One of the three oldest houses in Massachusetts, the Francis Wyman House, has been designated a National Landmark. It is the oldest house standing in Burlington. Francis Wyman built it in 1666 to serve as a garrison house to which farmers in the vicinity could flee in case of Indian attacks. The house has been restored by the Fran­ cis Wyman Association whose members meet here every year.
